Many self-advertisers on FaceBook have called for more help so FaceBook is releasing new features to help these advertisers. One of the new features is to make targeting easier to implement. Current campaigns are forced to choose between targeting to an exact interest or doing large category targeting. The new platform will allow both of these targeting tools in the same campaign.
FaceBook is also allowing campaigns to begin with a goal specification. Ads will then be tailored to suit those goals. Some accepted goals are app installs and growing a fan base. Facebook is also making the interface simpler and easier for use. Numbers are also being revisited. If a user checks in multiple times within a 12 hour time period, then the visits are counted only once. This will help brands better see how many visitors it has.
These new changes will help the social media agency by making FaceBook advertising not only easier but also more powerful. A fear, however, is that more brands will opt for self-service advertising instead of using an agency. The agency needs to head off that move by stressing that there are skills and knowledges which help and that the agency is the unique place where those skill scan be found.
